World Cup Strategies

Just something to add to the current World Cup fever. Check out the following image.

Just wanna wish Happy Birthday to Mr Faizul who is back home right now. If only you were here, Aqil would've paid for your lunch.

SEEDS 2 Prank By Seniors

SEEDS 2 finally arrived last weekend and it is great to see that we've managed to come this far. Watch for the blog post over at Commitment 2 Servitude or The Exclusives but here, I present to you a short video of the SEEDS senior bullying the juniors. Mind you, this was only recorded the last few seconds. The whole prank lasted quite some time.

What's Most Important Nowadays

I'm in a blogging mood and I would like to share the following photo. This is what everyone was doing while watching a World Cup match on TV.

Blogger's New Template Editor Rocks

Forget what I said in the last post. Blogger's new template editor is awesome! It's so easy to use that it makes it easy for anyone to customize their blog. Best part is it's a WYSIWYG editor. You'll preview your blog as you make changes without the need to save and click "view blog" just to see what it actually looks like.

Now if only it's easy to blog on other devices like wordpress. Anyone knows if blogger has an app like wordpress on the apple app store? For free?

Blogging here again

I'm back to personal blogging. In fact I've made two new blogs. Check our http://theexclusives.wordpress.com and http://commitment2servitude.wordpress.com. Those two blogs have their own purposes and I needed a casual blog where I dont need to worry about layout and making things look nice. Then I remembered this blog.

Heavyrain Aftermath

Lastnight's rain was crazy. I've never heard it come down so hard continuously that long. But the aftermath was worse. Driving to work this morning, I saw the underpass at the Kiulap roundabout flooded, the roads filled with mud and a landslide covering over half of a road. My 30-40 minutes drive to work turned to over an hour. Let's hope that the coming days won't be as bad.

More photos over at shutterspeech here.

Pak Ali Bukan Tamak

Pari Pari: Inikah kapak kamu?
Pak Ali: Tidak

.Pari Pari pun menyelam dan kembali bersama kapak emas.

Pari Pari: Inikah kapak kamu?
Pak Ali: Tidak, kapak aku buruk sahaja.

Pari pari pun menyelam dan kembali bersama kapak buruk.

Pari Pari: Inikah kapak kamu?
Pak Ali: Ya, itulah kapak buruk aku.

Pak Ali susahhati. Maka datanglah Pari Pari Tasik kepada Pak Ali.

Pari Pari: Kenapa kau bersedih?
Pak Ali: Isteriku jatuh ke dalam tasik.

Pari Pari pun menyelam dan kembali bersama Angelina Jolie.

Pari Pari: Inikah isteri kau?
Sambil menangis Pak Ali menjawab... "ya, itulah isteriku..."

Pari Pari pun marah, "Sungguh ku tak sangka, kau yang jujur satu masa dulutelah menjadi tamak".

Sambil menahan pilu Pak Ali menjawab, "Aku bukan tamak, kalau aku kata'tidak' pada Angelina Jolie... kau akan bawakan pula Pamela Lee...kalau aku katakan 'tidak' juga, barulah kau bawakan isteriku..bila aku kata'ya', kau akan berikan mereka bertiga padaku... Aku yang miskin ni tak mampu tanggung mereka semua".

What Difference Stages of Social Life Make

Just sitting at Taurean right now.
Bored to hell. Got out of work early not realising that most people are at work or are going back to work at this time of the day. Damn. Just when I'm starting to lepak again.

I realise that I need to rethink my lepak time but the problem is, our free time are different now that most of us are working. Those under the government work at different times than those in the private sector, which means that their free times are different. Then, there's those within the sector itself. Different places of work have different time slots. When one person is free doesn't mean that the other is. It might be easy to find time for your friends before life at work but once you get different schedules from your friends, it's not that easy to find the time.

Then there's the differences between each social life. A single person might be able to find the free time to meet his or her friend at anytime they want but someone with a girlfriend might be in a fixed schedule, trying to divide their time between their friends and their special someone. If you are married, it's a whole different story. You might be able to find the time for your friends but it is still limited as your time isn't just divided among your friends and your husband or wife, it is also divided for both sides of the family as well as your responsibility as a husband or a wife. Then there's someone with kids. This has got to be the hardest time to divide. The responsibility and commitment is overwhelming. Trying to find time for others might be harder than ever before. Dividing it between your friends, you family, your work and your interest is one hell of a task.

So, what is the solution? What are your solutions?

This is why, I guess, gathering occasions as they grow older so you can meet those people you used to meet all the time in the past just to make up lost times.

So, who's up to making one?

The Work Zone

It's been a freaking long day.
I had a full morning, mostly dealing with our Newsletter since John left and I was in charge of distributing them (which I'm not even sure how it works yet). And then I had to rush my break because I was out late.

At lunch, we had a relaxing time with the department watching this Australian show but followed by intense work on entering and updating records as well as preparing my laptops for tomorrow. By the time i was done with everything, it was 4pm.

I spent over an hour on the road thanks to the heavy traffic and by the time I got home, it was 5. I took a short rest then I had to get ready for our BADS meeting. Off for a quick dinner, went to the BADS meeting, got home, dealt with some extra work that I didn't get to finish in the afternoon and now here I am, sharing what seems like my daily life since... I don't know.

Seriously, why do I put myself to work so much?

During my holiday, at the back of my head was work, work, work before anything started. Then enter Paris, I completely forgot about back home - and I automatically changed to this free guy who has no commitments back home.

Then I got back home, I automatically changed back to where I left off. It's like, Brunei is all about work for me.

Am I making any sense?
Nevermind, it's midnight and if I don't sleep now, I'll only have less then 5 hours of sleep. I should go before I start saying things which you guys probably won't want to know... or stuff I don't want any of you to know.

Goodnight.

One Long Summary

I've been busy with a lot of things lately. Not just with work but trying to promote my two websites, namely shutterspeech.com and brugamers.com. Lately, I've spent my time mostly on brugamers.com since I'm basically done with the layout for shutter speech, though I do need to update the gallery now. Now, I just wanna get back to posting stuff here.

I'll blog more once I find the time but right now, I'm posting a summary of what I've been up to.

I went to Paris for the holiday, met a couple of people, ate lotsa crepes, took lots of photos (which I'll update soon in Shutter Speech's gallery) and...

...saw a guy crossdressing in a french maid costume at the Eiffel.

Then I met my sister in Cheltenham, got to see her place and where she studies and shops.

Next, went to Cardiff to relive the days when JuLeZz and I first went on our first date... and where it all happened with The Exclusives stuff.

Oh, met cute little Maisarah too - Shar's hyperactive daughter.

Then JuLeZz and I went back to London and hung out at places we first met, again reliving those "old" days. We also watched Into The Hoods and Wicked (above photo) at the theatres.

Got back to Brunei and then it was all work.

Started building and promoting BruGamers.com intensively... well, depends on what you think intensive means. I was hard at work.

After which I've spent most of my days at work updating records, books and then there were the workshops - at one time, I had two in one day.

We are also currently in the middle of starting a society, which I cannot reveal just yet. And I'm the Chairperson and JuLeZz is the Co-Chairperson.

We are also in the middle of rehearsals for BADS (Brunei Amateur Drama Society) and we've been meeting up every week for that - except for occasions where we're either tired with work or we just can't make it due to other commitments.

Then there's my mom's birthday celebration on 16th July (will upload photos soon in my multiply album). JuLeZz and I got her SPA treatment "voucher". I say "voucher" because they don't make vouchers, they gave it to us in the form of a receipt. But mom loved it.

JuLeZz and I, with contributions from Mimi and Anih, got my mom a birthday cake too. Oh, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY MOM!

There you go. A very relaxing post. Nothing too intense but just a simple (but long) summary of everything. I don't think I missed much.

Also, I would like to take this opportunity to wish my uncle & aunt for their new baby (I got a new cousin!) born on July 14. Then there's also Zyreen who has a new baby girl on July 15!

Right, I think that's pretty much it.
Until the next real post.

GHIII DragonForce 100%

I don't know if you guys have seen this but I was reading joystiq and saw a post on this guy who played Guitar Hero III's hardest song and completed it 100%. The song? It's rather obvious to GHIII's fans, DragonForce's Through The Fires and The Flames.

I have got to congratulate this guy. He obviously spends a lot of time on GH. Not a lot of people can do that. Maybe I should quit my day job and try to get 100% too.

The Empire Winner

JuLeZz AND I CELEBRATED OUR 1 YEAR WEDDING ANNIVERSARY on the 18th of May at The Manggis Ballroom. It was such a grand celebration. There was a fashion show for kids, talent show for the teens and some other games to cater the rest of the age groups.

One of the best parts of the day was the Grand Lucky Draw which included a night stay at the Empire Hotel, a TV, dinner for two at the Empire Hotel Pantai restaurant, high tea for two at the Empire Lobby and a wall clock.

Yesterday, we got to see the winner of the Empire Hotel night stay at the hotel itself! We were invited to join the fun - though briefly. The winners invited the rest of our family members as well to join in the fun! Check out some photos here at shutterspeech.com's gallery!

Senja Nan Merah

Masihkah kita termangu di bawah pepohon itu
Ketika hujan melunturi danau yang terusang
Tidak pernah dibilang hari
Hanyalah debar yang terasa… terasa

Setiap hari dibuai mimpi yang terindah
Dengan menghitung senja merah dihujung sinar
Mencipta kebeningan rahsia
Pada sehimpun kenangan
Menyimpul satu makna
Di ruang yang lurus ini

Haruskah…
Kita mencari pada gunung dan lurah
Liku-liku curam insani
Haruskah…
Kita mencari puncak mengilau cahaya
Dalam hidup seribu warna

Dibawah teriring ungkapan
Pada sebuah wajah
Yang lara kesepian
Haruskah kita mencari suatu
Senja dalam kepedihan

(#)
Haruskah…
Kita mencari dalam senja begini
Kembali kita bertemu

Haruskah (haruskah)…
Kita mencari dalam simpati wangi
Kembali kita bersama

Membilang kenangan yang abadi
Seperti menuggu mentari senja
Menghilang perlahan-lahan disebalik
Awan yang merah

(repeat #)

Dibalik awan yang merah
Dibalik awan yang merah
Dibalik awan yang merah

PS: Song's been in my head ever since JuLeZz's uncles played it at their gig during her cousin's wedding celebration, JuLeZz sang it and I was determined to try it out since I've listened to it before. And damn, now my voice is going away. Great song though.

I WON! Plus Mother's Day Chat

I DON'T NORMALLY LISTEN TO the radio because personally, I like to be in control of my music thus is why I burn them onto CDs and play them in my car. But something different happened today. Not those life changing happenings though. Just something really interesting that will make me listen to the radio once in a while.

I won a prize for my first ever text to a radio deejay!

WINNING

Funny story really. I had the radio switched on when I first entered my car this morning instead of my usual CD (I must've had it on radio before this) and they were playing a very interesting old song. So I listened. Then they were talking about mother's day (which was yesterday btw) which got me interested since I wanted to know what people did during their mother's day (more on this later). Then it came to a point where the deejay said to text about what kind of weather you are like - so I did. Half an hour later, they called when I was at work and told me I won something! Great stuff!

MOTHER's DAY ON RADIO

Now, when I was listening to the radio, the deejay kept telling listeners to call in and chat with her - pick a topic and see if they'll win something from her. So I heard all these people talking about Mother's day and I wonder how many of them are sincere in sharing these stories. I mean, are they there to show off? Or calling in just to win a prize? Mind you, most of them tried to share all these sad stories or even how they were hard at work for their mothers. Seriously? If you are so sincere, try to sound sincere. How? I don't know. You can just hear if people are sincere.

SPEAKING OF...

Speaking of mother's day - I bought my mom and JuLeZz's mom a mother's day present. Nothing impressive nor were they expensive. Just a small thing to say thanks since I haven't really been able to do much for either of them.

So, how was your mother's day?

For my mother:
Happy Mother's Day! Best Mom Ever!

Poll: Do You Notice Advertisements?

I was reading the newspaper earlier this morning and while doing that, someone pointed out a huge ad on the same page that took a third of the page's space. I asked myself, "how in the world did I miss that?" Then I realised that I don't really notice nor do I care about ads, be it on the newspaper or blogs but then I put up adverts on my blogs. It made me think, how well do ads work? And how many really attract the eyes of readers? Don't get me wrong, some ads catch my eyes but only the good ones.

So I thought, for the sake of a simple research, I'd put up a universal poll on all my blogs and ask you guys to vote if you notice them at all. So where ever you are reading this post from, your vote will count on my other blogs. Thanks for voting!

Comments below as usual.

Selfish Attitude

I just don't get it when people start blasting off their music at a cafe for the whole world to listen. Could anyone be more selfish? I'm just here ranting. Seriously, other people are also paying for their food and environment.

I'm at a cafe at the moment, sitting here trying to do my work at a relaxing atmosphere but noooo~. This group of annoying selfish techno fan sickos are playing their techno music so loud while sitting there and dancing to their techno crap (sorry techno lovers - my respect for you but not to them) while wasting their sorry life in a cafe. Don't they have anything better to do?

Heard of earphones? Buy the damn things!

PS: Here's to hoping that you guys aren't one of them. If you are - then God help us all.

Annoying Posts by Bloggers

Hello to whatever is left of my readers,

I am here to update. Hopefully more frequent.

I am also here to complain.

People who blog with lots of dots such as "see... the other day i was... yknow... yeah... haha!" annoy the hell out of me. People who call everyone peps annoy me. People who spell with wif as who are clearly 20+ years old can make my brain explode (No! You don't sound cute!). Seriously, do none of you go to school? Cousin is not spelt with c u z n. Paragraphs are not filled with a million continuous dots. And peps just sounds so bloody retarded.

But you know what annoys me the most? A blogger trying to describe something but is not making sense at all with his or her words plus using all of the above garbage. These people need to go back to school and learn proper English.

BBQ Party Dec 07

The photos took some time to be uploaded. I was busy with watching DVDs and finishing this game I meant to finish last week. But anyway, finally, the BBQ party of December 2007 photos are finally up.

How was the party? This was actually the first BBQ that was left to just JuLeZz and me both to get together because my family (besides my one brother) were away overseas. The past ones, especially the ones before I met JuLeZz, were heavily helped by my parents and aunts. So there were a lot of changes this time around.

Besides the preparation, it also started to rain to begin with, so we ended up setting everything inside the house as opposed to the previous ones where we always had them outside. So a lot of last minute planning had to be involved last minute. But thank God this time we thought of preparing the food early, as in having the BBQ food ready before the guests arrived. Well, most of them were - so people ate earlier this time. Which was a good thing for me since I don't have to be outside a lot and actually get to sit and mingle with everyone and just relax. One thing I always ended up with is a tiring body at the end of the party.

Then there were the crowds. A lot of the people I invited couldn't make it due to the rain and a lot of the usual crowd weren't there either. But there were a lot of new faces which was kinda fun too. I could only imagine what it would be like to have all the 70+ people who knew about the BBQ be there (note, we prepared food for 70 - so we ended up with leftovers, lots of leftovers).

Entertainment wise, we set up a lot of PS3s playing Guitar Hero III and Pro Evolution Soccer as well as a corner for Wii. We prepared the usual poker set and card decks. Missing is the xbox but in its place, we turned the living room into a karaoke room - which I kinda missed most of the time since I was outside and around the Guitar Hero area.

All in all, it wasn't such a bad party. Especially since it was prepared by only the both of us. It was fun as always but I knew it could've been better if it wasn't for the initial rain (it only rained for a moment then it didn't rain all night!). Plus, having the party inside didn't really feel like there were a lot of people - like it didn't feel like a huge party as the previous ones - plus most people left early when we used to stay there till late. Then again, some people did stay behind until 5am. JuLeZz and me? We stayed up till around 2.30 playing Guitar Hero, the most popular area of the night. And while JuLeZz and I were ready for bed, we could still hear those we left with my brother outside playing Guitar Hero. Y'know, not a lot of people know this but my BBQs used to be a gaming gathering and once it was called by a really long name, the Xbox Lan BBQ Party or BBQ Halo LAN Party.

Also, we were supposed to have a surprise birthday party too but the birthday girl couldn't make it. So happy belated birthday to Khairunnisa Halim! Too bad you couldn't make it. It would've added to the fun night.

Anyway, I'd like to say thanks to a number of people. My pretty wife especially for the food - we stayed up really late the night before just trying out stuff. Her two siblings and the maid for assisting her. Zeeko for coming early to help out with some of the preparations (lifting this and that). Azz and Ihsan for helping with most of the barbequing. Zool and Ripin for helping out with some of the BBQ as well. Also, thank you Ripin for taking some photos. My mom and brother for the sponsor (I feel like I just won an award). Those guys who brought food to the party, Far for the dessert, Zool for the hell of a lot of sausages, James who left Azz with money for sausages since he couldn't make it and Azz for the bottles of coke. I hope I didn't miss anyone. I didn't really took charge of the food people brought in. So if I didn't mention you, I apologise. And finally, I would like to say a huge thanks to our guests for coming, even when it rained so heavily. Hope you had fun!

Until the next BBQ guys!

PS: Crap! I didn't get to take a group photo with anyone at all!!

When The Rain Comes

It's been really raining heavily the past few nights.
The other night, on our way to Kiulap, a lighting struck a lamppost a few meters in front of us. Everything was so bright for a moment. Sparks jumped everywhere around it and the lamppost went dead. That was my first ever experience with lightning striking live in front of my eyes.

As we got to Kiulap, the roads were flooded. Some cars were stuck in the middle of it. Thank God for the many entrances in to Kiulap though, or else we wouldn't have been able to catch the movie we went to. Speaking of movies, you should check my post here at Tanah Air Ku about my experience that night.

One thing that made me think though, with all the rainy nights, I realised that a lot of people cancel their plans for the night due to rainy weathers. Some of our friends couldn't make it to our BBQ the other night because of the rain. The other night, most of my friends had to cancel our outing because of the rain. That made me think, how come I don't do that? JuLeZz and I talked about this and we realise that we still go on with our plans even if it rained. Which one are you?

Riding The Sky

JUST PHOTO POSTING today, again. Fun day in the morning at the camp. Lots of activities including Waterballoon Volleyball (or Volley Waterballoon?), absailing and flying fox among others. I kept calling flying fox Firefox though. Sky was a bit moody. Cloudy, clear, dark, cloudy, clear etc. But the sun was great for photos!

PS: Photo above is a silhouette shot of someone on a flying fox. Love the sky.

Crossing Turtle

Dear friend,

Today I saw a turtle crossing the highway. A car almost hit it but the driver slowed down in time for the slow turtle. The turtle then stopped in the middle of the road. It just sat there in its shell. I passed by it slowly and when I left it was still there. I wonder what happened to it? It was so cute.

Sincerely,
Your friend

PS: Which one is a turtle and which is a tortoise? Are Ninja Turtles really turtles?

Why I Ache Everywhere

My arms, my hands, my fingers hurt after playing Guitar Hero III for hours. I just can't put the damn stupid button pressing wireless guitar that I've put stickers on to make it look good down. Heck, even my back and neck hurt cause I was headbanging to Slipknot and Tenacious D... and many others. How do I rest when I can't even stop thinking about it? And I just bought Slash from the store! Oh my, oh my...

Rocking on Guitar Hero III

Guitar Hero, the game that has proven so popular even until its third installment. These music based games are fun, mimicking musical instruments by tapping buttons according to the beat. It's fun and can test your reaction time pretty well. Usually, I would play such games if they have a good music library. But I never played Guitar Hero before. Not the first nor the second. Why? Because of the fact that you can't get the guitar here in Brunei when it was out for the PS2 without ordering. So it was quite a turn off.

Now, it's a different story. More and more original games are coming into the country. And more and more games are making their way online. Guitar Hero III promises extra downloadable content via PSN and Xbox live and even now, new tracks are already available, such as Foo Fighters, for download. That, and the inclusion of a wireless guitar, made me put GHIII on the top of my most wanted list of games this November. And I finally got my wish.

Today, with my brother, we bought, not one, but two GHIIIs for our PS3s. And playing multiplyer rocks! Heck, my fingers are still aching for the whole afternoon of playing GHIII.

One thing I hate about the guitar is the use of AAA batteries. Yes, no recharging via USB. Which means, you got to stock up on batteries, just like the Wiimote. Annoying.

But all in all, GHIII is fun! And with the great music library, online play, promise of continuous DLC, this is the Guitar Hero to own! Let's rock baby!

Deepest Junction of All

HERE's SOMETHING REALLY AMAZING. Went to Kg... okay, I can't quite remember the name of the place. I think it was Kapok? Or Katok? It's somewhere around Mata-Mata, Gadong. Correct me please.

Anyway, had to drop off someone with JuLeZz after an afternoon spent selecting costumes for JuLeZz's upcoming play, MacBeth (to which you can view the album here). And on the way, we came upon junctions after junctions after smaller junctions that the simpang number became extremely long that the dashes (or hashes) turned to dots! Ah~ what a systematic way to lead the blind.

I wonder how the address would look like on paper? Imagine having to fill that in in forms! Heck, imagine trying to remember that! I wish those people living there good luck.

Frantic Narration

Have you ever narrated what is currently happening in front of you in your head? Or even compose something while you are driving, eating, walking or listening to someone during lectures or in the middle of doing work? I think, on the actuality that you are a blogger to begin with, we tend to narrate our life without realising it (or in this case, with) because we are addicted to blogging.

This afternoon, during the friday sermon, is a good example of what I went through. While listening to the sermon, I started to say the following in my head:

"Sitting there, listening to the sermon, I was wondering what the heck is going on. I couldn't understand much the topic of the sermon but it has something to do with public service..." blah blah blah.

A lot of the times, I just wish I can blog right there and then because once you take too long to write about it, the mood just goes away or you just forgot what you wanted to say whe it all happened. And that's when it kills you and you always end up writing "I want to blog about something but I don't know what..." or "I've got a lot ot say but I'm kind of tired/my muse is gone..." or "Something happened today, but I'll tell you about that tomorrow" etc.

Well, maybe it's just me. I don't know about you guys. Heck, I have a lot of blogs. Sin Adam, Shutter Speech, BruGamers, Tanah Air Ku - no wonder my brain is full of frantic narration.
